  What is the Different between Traditional Marketing and Digital Marketing and why you need to invest in one more than the other? The truth is; if you have been making use of traditional marketing before and you have not tried digital marketing, you are leaving the money on the table.

Traditional marketing is the old way of marketing, though it has a lot of benefits and can give you result but the ratio is 10/90. Which means: Traditional marketing cannot give you more than 10% result and Digital marketing can give you more than 90% even more than 200% if you know the right way to use it.

In this article, I will show you the different between Traditional marketing and digital marketing, why you need to invest in digital marketing more than traditional marketing, why traditional Medias are using digital to improve their marketing system.

All radio, TV and newspaper companies have social media presence, why? Because they know that people spend time on social media these days, because social media is free, because with less than 5mb you can search for what you need on Google and get the best result.  Let’s go to the main Topic.

Here are the 5 Different between Traditional Marketing and Digital Marketing

You still not understand what Traditional and Digital is?

The use of print ads on newspapers and magazines is an example of traditional marketing. And other examples may include flayers, commercials both on Radio, TV and billboards.

On the other hand, when a business invests on building a website, advertising the brand name through different social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, Google Plus, Instagram and YouTube, this strategy is called digital marketing.

Target Audience  

Not everybody is interested in your products or services. You need people who really need what you offer. Before you search on Google, you have something you want to search for; you can just go to Google without having something in mind.

You need to target people base on their location, age, sex and interest with this you will get the best result if you run any campaign.

Can you target People on Traditional Marketing?

The answer is Capital NO……. The probability is zero. Let’s say you want to advertise on TV, Radio or News paper and you paid $50 for 2 minutes. 99% of people who will buy news paper, watch TV and listen to Radio are not interested in what you sell. They have their own reason of buying newspaper, watch TV and Listening to Radio. That will waste your money right?

What About Digital Marketing?

Let’s start from facebook. You want to advertise make up. You know that this product is for female right? If you want to run an ads on facebook, you can target female, target the age, age 65 and above don’t need your make up, you will be able to target from 20 to 45 or 50 which means you are getting the right audience for your product.

Another thing is, you can target based on their interest, only people who are interested in makeup will see your ads and you will not pay for people who is not interest in your offer.

You can also target location. You and I know that there are some states that don’t like fashion; you can compare how people will buy make up in Lagos to that of Kaduna. All this is achievable on Digital marketing but you can’t do it on Traditional marketing.

Audience Choice

Digital Marketing will allow your audience to choose how they want to receive your content. While some want to read blog content, another people will prefer to watch YouTube video.

But in Traditional Marketing your audience doesn’t have the choice of choosing. Most people hate receiving sales flyers in their mailbox, or open news paper and find advert or phone calls at inconvenient times most especially if it’s something they don’t have interest in.

People made their choice when it comes to online, they received information based on their choice because they were the one who searched for it in the first place.

Let’s say I search for digital marketing in Nigeria and I land on this page, I sign up for newsletter. I will be receiving follow up message based on what I sign up for, I cannot sign up here and received follow up on how to lose weight. Interaction with your audience

You can’t interact with your audience if you are using Traditional marketing. The maximum length you can reach is to create call to action by adding visit our office at so, so, so place.

You will smile if you put smile on your followers face

But with the use of social media sites, interaction is encouraged; even you need it because it will make you attract new customers.

You can encourage your prospects (Followers and your clients) to chat with you, comment on your post, visit your website, you’re your latest blog post, read about your products and services and many more.

Data and results

If you place ads on any of the traditional media, 5% of people who have interest in your products will have it in mind to visit your shop, and 3% of these people will forget and get the same product from your competitors near them.

So, you don’t Know which ads is performing better, no way to check the result. But with Google Analytics and the insights tools offered by most social media channels, you can check on your campaigns at any time. You can see what is working, which ads to invest more money and which ads to stop.

One good thing is; you can use email marketing to improve your social media ads, which means; a visitor who visit your site from your ads page but don’t have money to buy your products today will subscribe for your newsletter and he will remember anytime you send follow up message to your subscribers. With this; you are investing small money and get big result.

Budget

To advertise on TV, Radio and News paper will cost you thousands and if you don’t have it you can’t start. But with small budget you can start Media ads. I have run Google ads of $5 before to text the market and I got great result, I have run $5 ads on facebook with good result. You don’t need to wait till you get thousands of dollars to run ads on social media, you can use the small budget you have to run ads and get good result.

So which type of marketing is the Best?

Well, we always recommend Digital Marketing for our clients. Because we are passionate about digital marketing, we know that it works and is economical. But we do use traditional marketing materials too, it depend on what we want to promote.  

 Is It Possible to make use of Traditional Marketing and Digital Marketing?

Is very possible if you have the budget, I still have clients who use the two methods to market their products and services. But if you want to make it work, is better you drive traffic to your lead page. Make sure you have a website before you can try that.

    Traditional marketing is a different ballgame than digital marketing is many ways.

    Digital leverages the playing field, as anybody can get online, learn the game, and can practice, create and connect their way to a successful business.

    Traditional marketing often forces you to slam into many gatekeepers, and also, goads you to play the dreaded numbers game versus building meaningful relationships.
